Broadcast systems
Spinner offers you a wide range of broadcasting technology for all your special needs:
Combiners in 19" rack insert technology
For power ratings between 1W and 5kW in the UHF and VHF (band III) frequency range SPINNER supplies combiners installed in 19“ rack slide-in units. For optimum space utilisation they can either be stacked in a 19" rack or directly wall-mounted. Depending on the installation position all connections in the rack point horizontally to the front or to the rear side.
CCS combiner concept
For broadcast applications we have developed a new modular concept for combiners and patch panels, the SPINNER CCS (Compact Combining and Switching system). This system requires extremely little space and can implement all standard and bypassing functions. All input and output lines of the combiner modules point upwards standardly. In this CCS technology we offer star point combiners, stretchline combiners and constant impedance balanced (CIB) combiners. CIB combiners can be cascaded with almost no limitation. If a system extension becomes necessary additional units are simply added upstream or downstream. Star point, manifold or stretchline combiners can be connected to the broadband input of CIB combiners. The following CIB combiner variants are available:
- Without combiner bypassing
In the simplest case all combiner modules are connected by rigid lines.
- Combiner bypassing on the output
In multi-channel operation every combiner module is part of a combiner chain. A 4-port patch panel on the combiner output is used for bypassing the combiner module, so it is free for measuring or for a frequency change.
- Transmitter routing on the input and combiner bypassing on the output
In normal operation the transmitter is connected with the narrow band input of the combiner module. For measuring purposes the transmitter signal can be routed to a common dummy load by a 4-port patch panel on the narrowband input. If a frequency change is necessary the transmitter signal is routed via the additional 4 port patch panel on the wide band input of the combiner module. Thus the combiner is free for re-tuning whereas the current transmitter signal continues to be on air.
Parallel switching units
Parallel switching units are used to combine two transmitters with identical operating frequency for doubling the power. For the frequency ranges FM, VHF and UHF the SPINNER product portfolio includes manually actuated as well as motor driven versions with plug-in switches. These parallel switching units ensure that in the event of a failure of one transmitter the complete power of the intact transmitter is on air. Otherwise half the power of the remaining transmitters would be converted to heat in the balancing load of the 3 dB coupler.
9" shortwave matrix systems
For high-power shortwave transmitter stations SPINNER has a remotely controlled 9" matrix system in the product range. The modular system design allows a maximum of flexibility for extension at a later point in time, and besides that it is extremely service-friendly. Individual matrix nodes can be removed from the front side without dismantling parts of the matrix. The matrix systems are delivered in compact units, which makes delivery and installation in the station's transmitter room easier and helps reduce installation time to a minimum.
