There is a steadily increasing need for high-quality data transmission in rotating applications in the wind power industry. Older technologies are gradually reaching their limits. As a result, wind turbines frequently grind to a halt and stop generating power. There are many reasons for this, but one of the most common is faulty data transmission for turbines’ pitch control, which until now has relied on conventional slip rings. SPINNER has developed a solution to the problem. The new contactless rotary joints replace part of the slip ring, which then no longer rely on direct physical contact and therefore ensure fault-free transmission of Ethernet data in real time at a rate of 100 Mbit/s.
With the aims of reducing emissions of smoke and toxic gases, delaying their spread and extending the available time for leaving burning buildings, in 2013 the European Union issued the Construction Products Regulation (CPR), to establish harmonized rules for the marketing and use of construction products.
The Elbphilharmonie concert hall is acoustically and mechanically isolated from the rest of the building, and its exteriors are designed to block all radio signals. But because the structure also integrates apartments, a hotel and a public area, the only way to enable mobile communications inside was to install an in-building solution. There are several thousands of visitors a day, who send countless photographs and videos and generate huge data volumes that have to be managed somehow. This called for a first-class solution, so those in charge naturally opted for the SPINNER Mobile Network Combining System – MNCS©.
When seals need to meet extreme demands due to harsh environmental conditions, or simply to play it safe by relying on a highly effective product, SPINNER CAF® Plast2000 is first choice. SPINNER CAF® Plast2000 connectors have a threaded opening through which the Plast2000 sealing compound is injected into the cable clamp. The compound enters and fills even the tiniest cavities to completely seal the connector.
The SPINNER type 1.14L is a robust, easy-to-use rotary joint for single-mode and multimode fibers. Its main advantage over conventional rotary joints is an L-shaped (90°) fiber exit on the stator, which makes it highly space-saving. This globally unique design is ideal for use in camera systems, e.g. in drones, in conjunction with small, compact slip rings.
