The SPINNER Rugged Fiber Optic Video & Data Multiplexer provides reliable transmission of high-resolution video signals and serial data over a single optical fiber. Built on a high-performance FPGA platform, the system combines uncompressed, near-zero-latency signal transmission with high signal integrity and a rugged hardware design. This makes it ideally suited for demanding defense, security, and industrial applications.
In its current configuration, the multiplexer transmits two HD/SD-SDI video channels and four RS-422 data channels over a single singlemode or multimode fiber. Uncompressed video transmission preserves image quality and signal synchronization, even in latency-critical and mission-critical applications.
The powerful FPGA architecture also provides a high degree of scalability and future readiness. The platform can already be upgraded via firmware to support two 3G-SDI channels. Further expansion options are designed to enable support for up to three HD/3G-SDI video channels as well as the integration of a Gigabit Ethernet interface – without requiring fundamental changes to the underlying hardware platform.
The integrated SFP+ interface supports both singlemode and multimode transceivers as well as optional WDM/CWDM technologies, providing the flexibility required to accommodate different system architectures, fiber infrastructures, and transmission distances. Integrated diagnostic capabilities further simplify commissioning, maintenance, and system monitoring.
